Measurement Principle

The system consists of an across the stack, double pass measuring transceiver and a reflector unit.

The transceiver uses a high-intensity LED source that emits a beam of light that passes through a diffuser and a beam splitter. Half of the light is directed by a beam splitter to the reflector unit and the reflected light is focused on the measurement detector. The other half of the emitted light is focused on the reference detector. The opacity value is calculated from the ratio of the two detected signals.
